Dr. Joel Beck, MD, FACS is a board certified plastic surgeon in Charlotte who has been performing Top Surgery since 2003. Dr. Beck is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and a member of several professional associations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH.)
Dr. Beck regularly presents at transgender conferences across the United States, including First Event, Southern Comfort, and Gender Odyssey.
Dr. Beck is very skilled at performing Top Surgery. He also offers other gender-affirming procedures: Body Masculinization Surgery (BMS), Facial Masculinization Surgery (FMS) and Hair Grafting.
The cost of Top Surgery with Dr. Beck is $8500 - $9500. Exact pricing can only be determined following a consultation. Dr. Beck accepts cash, checks, credit cards and medical financing via CareCredit, Cherry and Alphaeon. Dr. Beck's staff can also provide insurance assistance with Health Net, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Cigna and Aetna, and others. Dr. Beck is an out-of-network provider. He does not accept Medicare or Medicaid.
Surgery Facility
Dr. Beck owns and operates at his own surgical space in South Charlotte. Waverly Surgery Center is an 11,000 square-foot building featuring Dr. Beck's welcoming office space, two operating rooms and two 23 hour/overnight observation rooms for postoperative monitoring. This provides Dr. Beck’s patients with a single destination for their Top Surgery, from consultations and surgery day, to bedside aftercare.
Surgery Requirements
Dr. Beck follows WPATH guidelines for surgery. You will require one letter from a mental health provider, plus one letter from a hormone provider if you are using insurance to cover your Top Surgery. If you are paying out-of-pocket, only one letter from a mental health provider is required before a consultation is scheduled.
Patients must be aged 18 years or older.
