Dr. Gerhard S. ("Sol") Mundinger, MD, MBA, is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Austin, Texas who specializes in Gender Affirmation Surgery. Dr. Mundinger founded the NOLA Transgender Institute in 2018 to help improve access to gender-affirming care in New Orleans and the Gulf South, and in 2021, he joined the Crane Center for Transgender Surgery in Austin to focus exclusively on Gender Surgery.
Dr. Mundinger offers the Double Incision and Keyhole Top Surgery methods. Surgeries are performed at Arise Austin Medical Center and Westlake Hills Surgery Center, both in Austin, Texas.

Dr. Mundinger is in-network with Cigna PPO, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, Commercial United Healthcare PPO, and Employer Health Network (Whole Foods). He has also had success billing as an out-of-network provider with Aetna, Group Health, Harvard Pilgrim, HealthPartners and Medica. He also accepts credit/debit cards, cashier's check, money order, wire transfer and medical financing via CareCredit. Medicare, Medicaid, Tri-Care, Kaiser, Ambetter and Oscar Health are not accepted.
What is the consultation fee?
Dr. Mundinger is available for phone or in-person consultations in Austin. If insurance is out-of-network, then the cost of the consultation is $200. If in-network, the consultation fee is the specialist co-pay. An in-person consultation is not required for booking a surgery date.
How long is the wait list?
Dr. Mundinger's current wait list is 4-6 weeks for a consulation and 5-6 weeks for a surgery date.
