Top Surgery in Seattle
Dr. Won uses two primary surgical methods for chest reconstruction: Double Incision Top Surgery and Keyhole Top Surgery.
Dr. Won received training in Top Surgery from Dr. Tony Mangubat, a 20+ year veteran of gender surgery. In 2020, they co-authored a study on the healing process of nipple grafts in Double Incision Top Surgery.
"There is little documentation available that clearly describes the healing process of free nipple grafts for patients and their caregivers. Free nipple grafts are a useful tool in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast, and especially useful for FTM chest reconstruction. They are simple to perform and yield acceptably aesthetic results. Patients often have concerns and questions during the healing process about what to expect, especially during the desquamation period. Providing education and information about the healing process of free nipple grafts will help to reassure the patients as well as their caregivers." — Won A and Mangubat EA. Free Nipple Grafts: What to expect during the healing process. The American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, April 2020, doi:10.1177/0748806820915045.
Dr. Won also performs Body Masculinization Surgery, a procedure that uses liposuction to minimize feminine-looking curves that haven't been reduced through exercise or testosterone. The goal is to broaden the appearance of the chest and shoulders while slimming the waist, to create the classic V-shape male figure. The areas commonly treated to achieve this are the chest and back, abdomen, flanks, hips, buttocks and thighs. Multiple areas can be treated in one surgery.
Dr. Won operates at Eviva, an ambulatory surgery center in Shoreline, Washington. Her office has a non-discrimination policy, gender neutral bathrooms, and staff have received sensitivity training.
