Top Surgery in New York
Not too long ago, it was difficult to find a surgeon in New York to do Top Surgery—especially outside of New York City—and many people traveled out of state to access surgery. However, the 2016 launch of transgender surgery programs at both NYU and Mount Sinai, coupled with a marked expansion in private practices doing transgender surgeries in-state, have resulted in a great number of surgeon options.

New York Medicaid: New York State made changes to the types of transition-related surgery covered by Medicaid in 2016. These procedures include Top Surgery, however a diagnosis of "gender dysphoria" is required.
